Emma Slater
The youngest of four daughters to David and Milly Slater, Emma started riding at the age of 6 in ponyclub and was soon winning! Moving onto horses she had success as a young rider both on Home International Teams and being placed at Olympia Horse Show u21 Championship. From there Emma trained in America with Ian Silitch and Germany With Dolf Keller learning a lot from both & establishing her philosophy towards successfully training showjumpers with a strong foundation of flatwork.
Emma returned to the UK and produced a team of horses to International level including Dun Riddle and Ruxton Spot On among others who helped her reach the top 20 on the GB Riders ranking list. By coming 2nd to Tinka’s Boy in the Olympic Star Spotters Final Emma was picked for her Nations Cup debut.
After Ireland CSi5* Millstreet where she competed in the World Cup Qualifier she went to Europe to further her skills and knowledge as a rider and coach. Working for Armin Ubelhard, Max Hauri (Switzerland) and Anders Halvorsen (Denmark) from 2000 - 2003 and competing at national and international level in Switzerland, France, Germany and Denmark while also mentoring and training young riders, regional and national riders.
Throughout her career she has continued to ride for her parents at Ruxton Stud, developing their showjumping horses, with her sister Melanie Phillips working with the dressage horses.
